Yomoshiro

Ainokura, Central Honshu

Welcome to Yomoshiro. This Gasshou-Zukuri minshuku is a part of a world heritage site. This area gets an incredible amount of snow in the winter time. Here you will have an authentic Japanese experience. Yomoshiro is made of one building with four guest rooms and it is run by a warm welcoming family. Dinner there features vegetables that is collected by the father from the surrounding mountains and is prepared in the style of a traditional Japanese family.

Extraordinary hospitality
Yomoshiro family provides exquisite hospitality that was hard to beat. Every reviews mentioned by previous guests are accurate and they keep their standard up high. 1. They cater to our different dietary meals: vegetarians, no beef meals, no raw fish meals. Yet they prepared such delicious meals for us. Even the most picky eaters in our group finished all the dish provided! 2. It was raining the day we arrived. Our shoes were wet and we had so many luggages. They helped to unload all our luggages, and clean them before put in our rooms. Moreover they took all our wet shoes and dry them so that the following morning they would be all ready to be worn again. When we wanted to have a walk before dinner, they lent us boots and umbrellas. Their services are beyond expectations!!! We had a wonderful stay at Yomoshiro’s great house and their extraordinary hospitality.

Memorable Stay
Very kind people, and I think that’s how those who stayed here have fond memories. We shared different stories such as where I’ve been to Japan, how they’d get the mountain vegetables, what season was a vegetable planted, how the first floor was made (I didn’t know the original ones only had the roof-like structure), and the documentary that they let us watch was quite interesting. The food is always the best, since it’s my 2nd time in Ainokura when I stayed in Yomoshiro. There’s not enough words to describe the authenticity of being in Ainokura. I wish the owners of Yomoshiro well, and I hope I could visit again some day in the future.

Great experience
Nice experience for us and our kids staying in a 250yrs old dwelling hosted by the Yomoshiro family. Thought we stayed only 1 night, the memories we had of the friendly host, the musical and dining experience is unforgettable. Thank you for the great experience.
